Across its nine chapters, this book examines the history of Arab clothing in pre-Islamic Arabia, focusing on the evolution of modes of dress starting from the dawn of Islam right up to the period of the early caliphs.

In addition, it discusses clothing in the Arab Mashreq under Turkish rule during the late middle ages and early modern times, besides reviewing the history of Arab clothing across the Islamic West, in North Africa and Spain. Later, it studies the dress code for non-Muslims, luxury fabrics, and valuable garments produced by the design houses for the upper class. The book concludes by exploring modern Islamic clothing patterns and sheds light on contemporary Islamic fashion’s evolution.
